Medical Assistant

New York Dermatology Group seeks bright, dedicated medical assistants (MAs). MAs work alongside our physicians and are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties.

Administrative Duties [may include but are not limited to]:

  • Greeting patients
  • Answering telephones
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Using computer applications
  • Arranging for laboratory services
  • Updating our patients’ medical records via EMR software

Clinical Duties [may include but are not limited to]:

  • Taking medical histories and vitals
  • Explaining treatments/procedures
  • Preparing patients for examination
  • Assisting the physician during exams
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Instructing patients about medication and/or special diets
  • Preparing and administering medications as directed by MDs
  • Authorizing prescription refills as directed
  • Drawing blood (in-office training available)
  • Moving heavy equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Removing sutures and changing dressings
  • Learning the utilization and troubleshooting of various equipment (laser, radiofrequency, EMS)

Qualifications: This opportunity requires a very well-organized and responsible individual with excellent communication skills. Professional demeanor and high level of discretion are required. This is an ideal role for pre-medical, nursing or health students taking time off between undergraduate and medical/graduate school; we highly suggest that prospective Medical Assistants have demonstrated experience in medicine.
